The Denton sports bar and night club Texas 8 Ball was recently shut down due to non-payment of city taxes rent, an anonymous source told us today. This comes as precarious news considering the venue is set to be one of the larger venues showcasing bands for this weekend's second annual NX35.

Word on the street is that the owner has until 5pm today to pay off the debt to the city to open it's doors again, or the venue will remain closed until further notice. If payment is not met, the bands that were set to perform at Texas 8 Ball will be moved to the martial arts dojo across the street.

Regardless of venue the bands set to play Texas 8 Ball will play, because Denton is the best around, and nothing's gonna ever keep us down (I couldn't help myself).

Check back with us after 5pm for an update on this story.

---------------- UPDATE ------------------
Only Thursday's schedule of music has been affected, the rest of the weekend's events will go on as planned. As the NX35 twitter states "Latest on Texas 8 Ball: Fri thru Sunday shows are on at the venue as planned!"

Error
The property has been closed/locked for non-payment of rent, not taxes. There was a note Wednesday.

City taxes
The city doesn't seize properties for non-payment of taxes, but the county does. The sign says that it's under the authority of the County Constanble, not the City of Denton.
