Congratulations, to Steve Wiest and the University of North Texas One O'Clock Lab Band for being nominated at this year's Grammy Awards. In the end, the nation's most prestigious student Jazz band was beat out for the award by The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. However, the nomination puts this year's band among the very best in the university's long tradition of excellence in the Jazz genre.

Make no mistake about it. The number one source of musical talent in Denton is the music program at the University of North Texas. And some of the highest level of talent in that program performs in the One O'Clock Lab Band.

Despite not coming home with the Grammy, the band's album Lab 2009 was an outstanding accomplishment in the world of performance Jazz. It received universal critical acclaim and should go down in history as one of the very best productions the Lab Band has ever released in its over forty year recording history (they have been recording professionally every year since 1967). Enjoy the centerpiece of the album, "Ice Nine".

Check out this wonderful review of the album and in depth look at the band, which gives this group of musicians their due praise. Then have a look at a few more videos of the one and only One O'Clock Lab Band.
